Here’s a simple, tried-and-true way to make it right at home.

What You’ll Need
• Coarse-Ground Coffee: Freshly ground, the coarser the better. Start with a 1:4 ratio of coffee to water—adjust to taste.
• Cold, Clean Water: Filtered if you’ve got it, straight from the well if you don’t. Just make sure it’s cold.

Gear
• A Jar or Pitcher: Something big enough to hold your brew.
• A Filter: Cheesecloth, a fine mesh strainer, or a simple coffee filter will do the trick.

How-To
1. Measure & Add: Scoop your coffee into the jar—1 cup of grounds to 4 cups of cold water is a good base.
2. Pour & Stir: Add water over the grounds and stir ‘til they’re all wet and settled.
3. Let It Sit: Cover it up and let it steep for 12 to 24 hours. You can leave it on the counter or tuck it in the fridge. Longer steep = stronger brew.
4. Strain It Out: After steeping, strain the liquid into a clean jar or bottle—leave the grounds behind.
5. Water It Down (Optional): This’ll be strong stuff. Mix with water or milk to taste—usually one part concentrate to one or two parts liquid.
6. Serve It Up: Pour over ice, maybe add a splash of cream or a bit of sweetener if you like. Or keep it black and bold.
7. Keep It Cold: Store in the fridge and drink within a week for best flavor.
